ALTA 20 Week MMA Training Program

Alta is an organisation who has created a unique 20 week MMA training program. designed for complete beginners, novices and anyone looking to start an MMA journey. Participants have an opportunity to have a real MMA fight at the end of the 20 week program.

Whats the difference between Alta training program and a regular MMA gym training people to have an MMA fight?

Alta created a baseline blended program for the gym owners to prepare participants through an intensive training regime learning the techniques (punching, kicking, wrestling, Jiu Jitsu) used in MMA at the same time building the physical and mental strength necessary to have an MMA fight.

The Alta program is unique because the coaches and the participants have a deadline/goal (20 weeks) with a fight show at the end of the program.  Participants are matched, and compete against an opponent who has completed the same program from another gym, in an Alta organised  finale.

As an international MMA Referee I have seen many organisations and promotions try similar programs but without the success of Alta. The reason is the professional approach taken by the Alta organisation and its staff to give everyone the best experience possible. Gym owners and participants are important and treated as such with communication every step throughout the process.

What is the Finale?

The Finale is the another unique part of the program created by Alta.

By having multiple gyms from the same state or region participating in the program, creates a pool of potential fighters, this gives coaches and participants confidence that they are competing against an opponent who has similar experience and skills.

Previous Alta Warrior Program participants found a huge benefit in the training, they not only learned MMA skills but also gained confidence in the process. They became fitter and strong both physically and mentally while making new friends.

This is Season 4 for Team I am always amazed at the camaraderie our participants build with each other while training.

You start as individuals but finish as a team, win or lose the support for each other has always been incredible.

TO FIGHT or NOT to FIGHT?
There is no obligation to fight and thats ok because I know there is a huge benefit in completing the program. You will feel a sense of accomplishment, you will be fitter, stronger and have bunch of new skills, which builds confidence and self esteem, plus you will become a part of a team and make new friends.

Alta and the coaches do the best they can to match everyone for a fight but its not always possible, there are so many variables in match matching that not everyone will have an opponent who matches their age, weight or skill level. We will do our very best to get everyone in that cage for a safe and fair match.

COMMITTMENT
Stepping on the UFA mat for the Alta program is not all fun and games, it’s about training, improving your skill and the being a part of our TEAM. Although MMA is an individual sport, you need good partners to help you through the journey and get into the cage for your fight.

There are no expectations of your fighting skills or fitness level but as a participant I expect you to  be committed and show up for training as often as possible, of course I understand there will be days you cannot physically attend but you need to keep focussed and remember why you started the Alta program.

TEAM SPIRIT
We already have a great team of trainers and returning participants who are there to help you, so make sure you listen and make corrections when asked. Be a good training partner, training partners can help or hinder your  progress, so I expect every participant to help and support each other at every session.

  • The first few weeks of training I will start by setting the training culture and teaching the basic fundamentals of striking, grappling and pad holding with the an emphasise on building fitness.
  • Over the following weeks I increase the fitness workouts, improve on the striking technique, introduce more grappling drills and add movement drills.
  • Once I feel everyone has a basic understanding of the fundamentals I ramp up the training even more by starting to add combinations to your striking, takedowns and wall wrestling
  • I then look at introducing sparring, no contact and light contact, body sparring, increase Jiu Jitsu and wall wrestling and of course an increase in fitness workouts.
  • Only once I feel you are competent with your skill level, will I add full contact sparring which is always done with control
  • Once hitting fight camp (week 10) the training increases even further but you will have a higher skill level and you will be pushed even further out of your comfort zone.
  • Throughout the program we will go through the rules, discuss both team and individual fight strategies and get you registering as a fighter with the NSW Combat Sports Authority
  • Every season the program starts slow and easy but finishes hard, when its over, you will feel accomplished and miss the program but hopefully wanting to improve on your new found skills and continue with your training.

This is your opportunity to change your life and have the experience of a lifetime…
